Re: Hannu Tihinien
He was brilliant, he should have been signed, but Redknapp spunked the money instead on Rigobert Song and Camara (I think.)

Re: Hannu Tihinien
42% of babies born to West Ham fans since 2001 have been named HANNU
FACT

Will probably be the most common name in the U.K. by 2025
ANOTHER FACT

This made me laugh from Wikipedia....

Helmet[edit]

Tihinen injured his head many times during his career. Because of that he wore a helmet during his last seasons. He was also very good with his head, which he used to score most of his goals.

Re: Hannu Tihinien
Redknapp said he wasn't 'top drawer'.
A bloke who won two championships with Anderlecht and two with Zurich after his loan at West Ham plus seventy odd caps for Finland was certainly good enough for us,whichever drawer you would place him. Looks like there was no brown envelope for 'arry
on offer.

From Wiki:

On 13 April 2012, the 35-year-old Tihinen announced his candidacy to run for the new president of the Football Association of Finland, as the post was left open after Sauli Niinistö was elected as President of Finland

Love the fact that being President of the Finnish FA is the previous stepping stone for being President of the Finnish Nation

Wrong OT win mate. It wasn't the Tevez great escape, it was the PDC vs Barhtez Le Taxi (Joe's brother) cup win.

Re: Hannu Tihinien

Re: Hannu Tihinien
He only started half a dozen games 15 years ago but he seems to get an annual thread.

Excellent player. Not sure how we missed out there.

Re: Hannu Tihinien
I think part of the reason there's this romantic pedestalling of tihinen is henpkayed well during his loan spell as a replacement for Rio, then we wouldn't stump up there case to buy him permanently and ended up with the likes of daily, song, soma, fixed, todorov etc who were all far far worse

Actually started the process of Harry's demise/departure

Godwinson 12:20 Tue Apr 25
Re: Hannu Tihinien
Lily, yes - he was involved in that win.

Titi Camara coming on as a late sub still makes me chuckle.

Re: Hannu Tihinien
As OTB has said, he's one of those players who have got better in the years that have past.

He was with us for 3 months and played alright in a couple of games, yet people build him up like he's a cult hero or something.

Re: Hannu Tihinien
I asked Harry about him once and why we never signed him (not long after his loan had finished).

He actually said he had the wrong agent.

Re: Hannu Tihinien
Yes I remember him and like Schemmel he was a poor player that managed to play like a god for a season or two...
